  • Pre/Post-operative orthopedic clients (ACL, MCL, Rotator Cuff, Labral Tear, Meniscus)
  • Post abdominal surgery (ex. hernia repairs, cesarean section)
  • Pre/Post-natal and return to activity

Widely used in the UK, New Zealand and Australia, we are excited to offer this treatment tool in Canada. Top athletes in the following sports rely on Clinical Pilates in adjunct to traditional training methods:

  • Rugby
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Running (Track & Field, Marathon, Half Marathon, recreationally)
  • Field Hockey
  • Football
  • Skiing
  • Golf
  • Dancers and Ice Skaters
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Swimming

WHAT TO EXPECT

Specific, supervised, guided pilates exercises on the Reformer, Mat and Chair,  are used in conjunction with traditional manual and neuromuscular physiotherapy techniques to treat the whole body in addition to the acute injury.

Clinical Pilates Phystiotherapy sessions can be one on one or small group.  Each session is specifically designed to meet your goals and fitness level.  An initial Assessment will help your physio and you determine your individual goals.  Based on your needs we will establish a treatment plan involving both in-clinic exercises, and if appropriate, at home exercises.

Pilates sessions focus on treating the entire body while addressing the interaction of the core, breathe,  alignment and posture of the spine and affiliated joints (knees, hips, feet etc). Exercises focus on both strength and stability while encouraging greater freedom of movement without pain, and increased flexibility coupled with overall body awareness.

TEAM PROGRAMS

If you are a sports team or coach looking to implement Pilates Physiotherapy as part of your teams regular training program or preseason training program, please contact Diane to discuss creating an ideal program for your needs.  Sessions may be organized in-studio or on-site at your practice location or team club house/ weight room.
